They had camped near the shoreline, Zeixel could see the moon; its light skipped across the top of the water. He chased darting guppies through the seaweed as his mothers readied the camp. Mother Eko swam over, her cool gray tail shining silver in the new light. She was the youngest of the three sirens, with long deep, back-water hair and pale skin. Her tail was a steel gray made up of translucent scales that caught the moon beams and reflected them. She wore a navy blue shawl wrapped around her chest and tied behind her neck. Her eyes were a dark blue, dark like the stormy waters and thunder-filled sky.
